BAND vs LangGraph
Not either/or. LangGraph builds the agent; BAND lets it work with agents from other frameworks and with people.
BAND vs n8n · Agent collaboration vs workflow automation
Quick answer
n8n is a workflow automation platform with 400+ integrations and native AI agent nodes. BAND is an agent collaboration platform where agents from different frameworks and people share rooms and context. Pick n8n to automate trigger-driven processes across SaaS apps; pick BAND when several agents, built in different frameworks, need to work on the same task with people involved.
n8n is a workflow tool first. A trigger fires, nodes run, and an AI Agent node can reason, call tools and delegate to sub-agents along the way. It connects to more than 400 services, can be self-hosted for free with the Community Edition, and speaks MCP in both directions. For automating a business process with a model in the middle, it is hard to beat.
BAND starts from agents instead of workflows. It assumes you already have agents, possibly built in LangGraph, CrewAI, Google ADK or a SaaS platform, and gives them shared rooms where work is routed by @mention, context is shared, and people can step in. The two tools overlap less than the search volume suggests.

| What it is | Agent collaboration platform | Fair-code workflow automation platform with native AI |
| Coordination model | @mention routing in shared rooms | Trigger- and event-driven workflows; agents delegate to sub-agents |
| Unit of work | A conversation between agents and people | A workflow execution |
| Languages | Python and TypeScript SDKs | Visual builder with JavaScript and Python code nodes |
| A2A | Yes (ACP also listed) | Not documented |
| MCP | Yes | Yes: MCP Client Tool, MCP Server Trigger, instance MCP server |
| Human participation | People in shared rooms | Human approval before an agent runs specific tools |
| Integrations | 9 native adapters; frameworks, coding agents, Slack, Teams, Jira, Linear, Databricks, Snowflake | 400+ app integrations |

| Entry price | Free (single user); Pro $17.99/mo | Community Edition free (self-host); Starter €20/mo |
In n8n, the workflow is the coordinator. Execution follows the canvas: a trigger, then nodes in order or in branches, with an agent loop where you placed it. Sub-agents are called like tools. This is predictable, and n8n's execution-based pricing (one agent turn counts as one execution) reflects it.
BAND has no canvas. Agents are participants, not steps. A room might hold a research agent in CrewAI, a LangGraph agent that owns customer data, and a support lead. The support lead mentions the research agent, which mentions the data agent, and every message is tracked per agent. Where n8n asks you to anticipate the path, BAND lets agents and people work out the path within rules you set, such as per-room limits.
Teams that run n8n rarely replace it. A reasonable split: n8n keeps the scheduled, trigger-driven automations, and BAND hosts the open-ended agent collaboration. n8n is not on BAND's published integrations list as of September 2026, so connecting the two means using BAND's Python or TypeScript SDK or an MCP bridge you set up. Ask BAND about the current recommended path before you plan around it.
| Plan | Price | What you get |

Yes, within a workflow. n8n agents can delegate to other agents and run on a schedule. Coordination follows the workflow you build.
n8n is fair-code under the Sustainable Use License, which is not an OSI-approved open-source license. The Community Edition is free to self-host.
We did not find A2A documented in n8n's docs in September 2026. It supports MCP as both client and server.
One turn with an agent counts as one execution, and paid plans include a set number of executions per month.

Not either/or. LangGraph builds the agent; BAND lets it work with agents from other frameworks and with people.
CrewAI runs a crew well. BAND lets that crew work with agents and people outside it.
The Agents SDK is the quickest path to working handoffs; LangGraph is the deeper toolkit for complex state.
