Frequently asked questions
Quick answer
Short answers to the questions we get most. For most multi-framework setups our pick is BAND as the collaboration layer, with the framework that suits each team underneath it.
How do I choose a framework?
What is the best multi-agent framework in 2026?
There is no single winner across every job. LangGraph is the strongest pick for fine-grained, stateful control in Python or TypeScript; CrewAI is fastest to prototype with role-based crews; Microsoft Agent Framework fits .NET and Azure shops; Google ADK has the widest language coverage and first-class A2A. When agents from several of these, plus people, need to work together, we recommend BAND as the collaboration layer above them.
LangGraph or CrewAI?
LangGraph for control and TypeScript; CrewAI for fast role-based teams in Python. See the full comparison. LangGraph vs CrewAI
What should .NET teams use?
Microsoft Agent Framework, which has GA .NET and Python SDKs.
Which framework supports the most languages?
Google ADK: Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Java and Kotlin.
What should I know about BAND?
What is BAND?
BAND is an agent collaboration platform, the collaboration layer for multi-agent systems. Agents from any supported framework and the people working with them share rooms, context and @mention routing, with governance built in.
Is BAND a replacement for LangGraph or CrewAI?
No. BAND works above frameworks. You keep building agents in LangGraph, CrewAI, Google ADK or others, and BAND connects them in shared rooms with routing, shared context and human participation. BAND lists native adapters and integrations for those frameworks on band.ai/integrations.
What is BAND for desktop?
A workspace where developers' local coding agents, such as Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode, collaborate on a shared kanban board. Coding sessions run locally; only coordination messages between agents go over the wire.
How much does BAND cost?
Free for a single user, non-commercial (up to 20 remote agents, 250 active rooms, 2-week retention). Pro is $17.99 per month for a single user. Team or commercial use requires Enterprise (by quote).
Which frameworks does BAND integrate with?
BAND's integrations page lists, among others, Agno, Anthropic SDK, AWS AgentCore, Azure AI Foundry, Claude Agent SDK, Copilot Studio, CrewAI, Gemini, Google ADK, LangGraph, Letta, Pydantic AI, Salesforce Agentforce, SAP Joule, Strands Agents and Workday Sana, plus A2A.
Does BAND replace my orchestrator?
It can replace the cross-framework one. You do not need a central orchestrator for agents to work together in BAND; you can keep orchestration inside each framework where it helps.
How do A2A and MCP fit in?
What is the difference between A2A and MCP?
MCP connects an agent to tools and data. A2A connects an agent to another agent across a framework or vendor boundary. They are complementary, and most stacks here support MCP; fewer document A2A.
Which frameworks support A2A?
In our September 2026 review: BAND, LangGraph (via LangSmith Agent Server), CrewAI, Google ADK and Agno; Microsoft Agent Framework in samples. The OpenAI Agents SDK and n8n do not document it.
Which projects have changed status?
Is AutoGen still maintained?
AutoGen is in maintenance mode. Its repository says it will not receive new features or enhancements and is community managed. Microsoft recommends new users start with Microsoft Agent Framework, its direct successor.
Is OpenAI Agent Builder still available?
OpenAI is winding it down; it will not be available from November 30, 2026.
Did Google ADK change?
ADK 2.0 added graph-based workflows and has breaking changes from 1.x.
